Preparing for your shoot

Practice makes perfect (or at least pretty darn good):
The most important element if your photos is your expression and how your personality shines through. Think about how you see yourself and how others see you and how you want to be perceived. I suggest you stand in front of a mirror and practice your look. Notice how slight changes in expression look and feel. It is helpful for actors to put yourself in a role you are suited to and act it out in the mirror. To get a genuine smile think of things make you smile inside.

What to wear:
The key is to wear clothes you love to wear and that are comfortable and flattering to your best features. Bring several shirts or blouses ranging from neutral and subdued colors, and something that reveals your personality. Solids and simple necklines are best. I recommend having garments professionally pressed. If you want full body shots, pressed pants and clean shoes are a must. Women should bring different undergarments to accentuate colors and necklines.

Make Up:
Whether you hire a makeup artist or apply your own, begin with a cleansed and moisturized face. I do not recommend using frosted or glittery make up. For extra care, a facial the day before is a great added touch if you can afford the luxury. A make up artist is available upon request for an additional charge.

Make sure it is very clean and do not add too much product. Bring what you need and add more in the studio if necessary. If you are getting a haircut or new style, plan it no less than one week prior to shoot.

 Bring redness removal drops.

Make sure they sit on your face straight. Remove the lenses where possible as they cause glare.

Lip balm is essential. If you have dry lips, put it on all day long before the shoot.

Facial Hair

Men: Watch for unruly brow, nose and sideburn hair. A clean-shaven look is recommended, but if you want some shots with facial hair, you may bring your razor and do some shots both ways.

Women: Same as above, pay extra attention to eyebrows.

It is not recommended for headshots.

Music: I have a diverse music collection, but you are welcome to bring your Ipod or some favorite CDs.

The shoot will be FUN! I enjoy what I do and I am very good at it. Just trust my ability and learn not to judge yourself and we will have an enjoyable time and create work we can both be proud of.

The Day Before:
DO NOT drink alcohol or smoke the night before the shoot. Even if you feel fine the morning after partying, your face will be puffy, your skin will appear dull, and your eyes will lack the spark to make your photos exceptional. DO drink lots of water, moisturize your face, and get lots of sleep. This shoot is an investment in your future prepare for it appropriately!
